Bengaluru Speaks: The Urban Woman

0

Come join us for the 9th session of

Bengaluru Speaks

An evening of uncommon conversation.

This Month's theme:
THE URBAN WOMAN:

Inspiration, Challenge, Threat ?

SATURDAY, April 4th

4.30pm -7.00pm

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF TIME

Ashirvad (30 St. Mark's Cross Road, across from the State Bank of India, first right after the petrol bunk on St. Mark’s Road)

Come engage in honest and constructive conversations about issues that matter to you and your city.

Bengaluru Speaks is hosted by Meta-Culture. We work to build peaceable and sustainable communities by changing how individuals and groups in conflict talk with each other. For information about our activities, contact: www.meta-culture.org

Last month's Dialogue: Competing Cultures: Morals, Malls and Marriages allowed participants to share their thoughts about the differences, shifts and clashes of culture in India today. While some sought to preserve tradition, others sought to change with the times-  some feared loss of identities, while others feared identities being forced upon them.

This month, MCD will encourage participants to explore the topic:

“The Urban Woman: Inspiration, Challenge, Threat ?”

This topic was chosen because of the recent violence against women in Bangalore. We would like discussion to both be in-depth and broad, where we talk about the role of women in Bangalore, their changing identity and the differences in perception of the Urban Woman.

Is the Urban Woman an inspiration, a challenge or a threat?

Participants will share their thoughts on pertinent questions that will be posed to them, as well as, have the opportunity to converse with fellow citizens of Bangalore about relevant issues, in a respectful and safe space.

All are welcome.  Invite your neighbours, colleagues and friends.

We look forward to seeing you there!

The Meta-Culture Team

Subsequent Bengaluru Speaks will take place at the end of every month!

For more information about Bengaluru Speaks, Meta-Culture, facilitation, and dialogue, contact us on 080-4152-4785 or dialogics@meta-culture.org.

The voice of silence...

5

Why is that sometimes one can understand the feelings unspoken but can't understand words spoken! I really wonder and it is so very strange. Unspoken feelings when understood by our loved ones make us immensely happy. It is a real blessing to find someone who can respond to your unspoken feelings. Sometimes the communication that two hearts have in silence is more beautiful than the words shared....it reminds me of a song…one of my most favorites…“When you say nothing at all”.

Its amazing how you can speak right to my heart
Without saying a word, you can light up the dark
Try as I may I could never explain
What I hear when you dont say a thing

The smile on your face lets me know that you need me
Theres a truth in your eyes saying youll never leave me
The touch of your hand says youll catch me when ever I fall
You say it best..when you say nothing at all

All day long I can hear people talking out loud
But when you hold me near, you drown out the crowd (the crowd)
Try as they may they can never define
Whats been said between your heart and mine

The smile on your face
The truth in your eyes
The touch of your hand
Lets me know that you need me..

(you say it best when you say nothing at all
You say it best when you say nothing at all..)

Celebration of Life!

0

Death is sometimes a punishment, often a gift; to many it has been a favor.

A beautiful death is for people who have lived like animals to die like angels.

What a wretched life it was, his final moments prolonged. He resembled an angel though, after he had died. But life was hell until that final moment.

Old age is a certainty. I guess he spent his last few years wondering about his death. He must have recognized the ominous signs when his vision started to fail. Strength was slowly sapping away from his body. He yearned for comfort, love and care but of no avail. He was on his own.

After having traveled far and wide in his prime, I wonder what went through his mind when he was confined to his bed; the whole world had shrunken to a few meters from his bed.

Being a chain smoker, I was surprised to find that he no longer derived pleasure in smoking. He would put the stub out after a few drags from it. The floor around his bed used to be littered with half burnt stubs. It was unusual for a chain smoker to not finish his stub.

He abstained from eating and drinking, probably hoping for a quicker end. But he had to wait. It seems that he was put on a waiting list that had quite a lot of names ahead of his!

He weakly protested when his family tried to forcibly feed him. I don’t know what caused him more anguish; the act of eating or eating itself.

His body had given up but his heart and soul were still going strong.

For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

He certainly knew when it was his time to go. He would have probably danced with joy. The family knew too as he started to bid goodbye’s to every one.

He died like an angel, in his sleep. It was like some one had done a huge favor.

They say that a person’s entire life flashes before his eyes when the moment comes.

I call it the final celebration of life because there is no more life after you die.

WWF Earth Hour: Join in...

0

Citizens from across 85 countries in over 800 cities around the world are switching their lights off on March 28, 2009 for one hour, from 8.30PM to 9.30PM, to raise their voice against climate change. It's now happening in India for the first time. Tell your family, friends and colleagues about WWF Earth Hour and ask them to join in and switch off for a healthy planet.

This year
Earth Hour (Vasundhara Ghatika) has been transformed into the world’s first ‘global election’, pitting earth against global warming. For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch to vote; switching off your lights is a vote for earth, while leaving them on is a vote for global warming.

Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008, the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with over five crore people switching off their lights. The Social Forestry Department (SFD) has appealed to all its 9,000 eco-clubs and four lakh student-members to observe the Earth Hour on March 28. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to vote for earth during the Earth Hour, and this number is growing everyday, officials said.

What will you be doing at 8.30pm on Saturday March 28th? We're keen to know what you have planned for Earth Hour 2009. If you'd like to share your plans with us, then please email us at
80feetroad@gmail.com. describing the details of what you have planned for Earth Hour 2009.

Greed for money makes a father ruthless!

1

As I started my day at office, I read this news which horrified me and left me in painful silence. The Mumbai police have arrested a 60-year-old man from Mira Road area for allegedly raping his elder daughter for the last 9 years. The ordeal began in 2000 when his elder daughter was 11-year-old. The elder daughter, now 21, was allegedly raped for 10 years. The businessman started raping his second daughter - a 15-year-old - just a few months ago. The mother of the two girls has also been arrested for abetment. How disgusting is that! The man apparently acted on the advice of a self-proclaimed tantric friend who advised him to establish physical relations with his daughter to improve his financial condition. Along with him, the mother of those two girls and the tantric have also been arrested for abetting the incest.

One side we talk of globalization, rationalization, fighting blind beliefs all that and the other side such horrible acts happen! I was just thinking of those two girls, who were exploited for the prosperity of family and to obtain financial stability! How much painful it will be for those two girls, usually if any problem comes in the childhood or teenage, we go to our parents, share with them and feel so happy sharing every little thing…let it be a bigger or smaller thing. But, where will such girls go, if parents themselves push them into such a living hell!!! How painful it is and what will happen to those poor little girls…how badly their hearts must be wounded along with the physical abuse!!! Thank God atleast the elder daughter revealed about this insane act! She confided in her maternal grandmother when she saw her younger sister being targeted just as she had been by her father. The girls further disclosed that the tantric had raped the younger sister, who is now 15-year-old. For now, the girls are staying with their maternal grandmother and uncle.

Kiss therapy for women with low sex hormone levels!

2

Kisses can be therapies helping to promote fertility in women! When women were administered Kisspeptin, which is a hormone produced by the "KISS-1" gene, ovulation and fertility was restored in a few. This can be a very good news for women with low sex hormone levels. Animals and humans lacking this kisspeptin hormone do not go through puberty and remain sexually immature, and this is in favour of this new research finding. Kisspeptin is basically the product of the KISS-1 gene and it is a G-protein coupled receptor ligand for GPR54. KISS-1 gene was originally identified as a gene that has the ability to suppress melanoma and breast cancer metastasis. However, several studies have made it clear that kisspeptin-GPR54 signaling has a significant role in initiating secretion of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (also called as luteinizing-hormone) at puberty. Kisspeptin hormone activates the release of sex hormones, which are responsible for controlling the menstrual cycle. Well, this field has several ongoing research studies.

One thing that is very interesting about this KISS-1 gene is the history behind its naming! The naming of the KISS-1 gene and Kisspeptin, was made by a team of researchers, who discovered the gene in Hershey, Pennsylvania, famous for its chocolate "Hershey's Kisses" (bite-sized pieces of chocolate manufactured by The Hershey Company).

Koi mil gaya...!!!

2

Wondering...why I am talking about this 2003 movie now!?

That's because our Indian researchers have discovered three alien micro organisms!

Our Indian scientists from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have discovered three new species of bacteria in the upper stratosphere. Stratosphere is a layer of Earth’s atmosphere and it is layered in temperature because it is heated from above by absorption of ultraviolet radiation from the Sun. Three new species of bacteria found are highly resistant to ultraviolet radiation and these species are not found anywhere on the earth! This leads to doubts that if these species are of extra terrestrial origin! These three species have been named as Janibacter hoylei, Bacillus isronensis and Bacillus aryabhata. A 26.7 million cubic feet balloon carrying a 459 kg scientific payload soaked in 38 kg of liquid neon was flown by researchers from the National Balloon Facility in Hyderabad, operated by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. The payload consisted of a cryosampler (also called as cryogenic sampler) containing 16 evacuated and sterilized stainless steel probes.

Generally, a cryogenically cooled adsorber is used in such a system for maintaining the vacuum. Stratospheric air was collected using this balloon-borne cryogenic sampler. And, the probes were telecommand opened/closed at pre- determined altitudes. Throughout the flight, the probes remained immersed in liquid neon to create a cryopump effect. And, for those who are wondering what is this cryopump…well, it is nothing but a vacuum pump, which is able to trap gases and vapors by condensing them on a cold surface. The cylinders used for collecting air samples from different heights ranging from 20 km to 41 km, were later parachuted down and safely retrieved by researchers.

They detected 12 bacterial and six fungal colonies, nine of which showed greater than 98 percent similarity with known species on our Earth. However, three bacterial colonies were totally new species! This experiment does not assure the extra-terrestrial origin of these three species but certainly provides an immense encouragement for those who are highly interested in exploring the origin of life!

Remote controlled McLaren Formula One car!

0

Have you ever dreamed about driving a formula one car?

Yes you can (if you manage to get your hands on the phone and the car!). What's wicked is that you can remote control a formula one car using you phone! The video shows a scale model of an McLaren Formula One car being driven across a track in the beginning. This impresses the guys at McLaren and they build a full scale model car that can be controlled by a phone via Bluetooth.

Apparently this seems to be a ad campaign by Vodafone featuring its flagship model – Blackberry Storm.

Enjoy the video!

80 Feet Road Is Now 1 Year Old!

0

Wowwww, has not the year just flown by! Times flies isn’t it!

Happy birthday to ‘80 Feet Road Blog’! I still cannot believe that we have completed one year! My ship of blogging has begun its long journey through this blog. I wanted to give my self a voice and this happened with this very first blog. I found blogging as a better way to unveil myself and unwind my thoughts. I can't believe how many of us started up our own blogs around the same time last year. I feel like we're the baby boomers of blogging. I wish 2009 will be a great year for those of us who continue blogging like crazy ;)

I have certainly enjoyed one-year of blogging along with the comments we were getting for the posts. There have been some excellent discussions along the way in our 1-year journey, with some people being great and adding real value to the posts. And, what makes all of us happy is that we have a group of loyal readers of our posts and that increases our enthusiasm to write more. When deeper thoughts start to flow, just strike it, and blog! The so called ‘bloggish inspiration’ comes and goes but maintaining a balance is very much needed.

I’m a little late in congratulating my fellow bloggers but I did not want to miss an opportunity to congratulate you all on the one year anniversary of our blog and to thank you all for putting immense efforts to keep the site updated and more interesting.

Thanks for all your support and contributions in this first year of blogging, there’s still lots more to discuss…we assure you :) We're happy about our progress this past year and will try achieving more of success this year. All of you are welcome to jump in and join our reader community - and no doubt people…it's a lot of fun! :)

Cheers!

THE PICTURE

5

PART ONE – FATHER TO SON...

Look into my eyes, my son, don’t you look away

Come out from that shadow, come into the ray

Its been a hard life for you, you know I understand

You were in the sea out there, lets get you back to land.

What is it with your eyes, my son, why are they so red?

Is it the hate that you carry, or the tears that you’ve shed?

You don’t need either, because neither of them, is you

Leave them all behind, my son, and start over new

Look at the picture over there, hanging on your wall

Lets walk into the picture, and walk beyond the wall

Breathe in all the blue, my son, and sit on all the green

It is not just a picture, this is where you had been.

Before the day you left my hand, and went away from sight

And ran beyond the picture, ran beyond the light

I do not care about that, now that you are here

Back into the picture, long way away from fear

Peapod vs. Volt

0

Touted as a competitor for Chevy Volt, Peapod is a really cute electric vehicle from the stables of  Chrysler’s new division: Peapod Mobility. Retailing for around $12,500, the Peapod is available for online order from April 22 onwards.

In the meantime Chevy Volt is slated to launch on November 10, 2010 and probably setting you back by $40,000. The Volt is anything but Peapod in terms of looks.

For more information on the Peapod, click here.

Likewise for Chevy’s Volt, click here.

One and Counting!

2

I still cannot believe that a year has already passed since we started this “Crazy” blog. Freedom to post whenever one wants without the content being edited – was one of the catalysts for starting this blog. And after a year, I was still smiling when I was having lunch with Guru on the other day because the above mentioned catalyst was and still is – a driving force for posting on this blog.

I would also take this opportunity in welcoming Chithra Ann Joy to our gang of Crazy Media Analysts on 80 Feet Road. Looking forward to read many of her posts.

The major highlight for me was the month of July 2008 where we blogged like crazy, resulting in 57 posts. Hope we will go past that number someday.

Many thanks to Guru for his tremendous work behind the scenes, working on the template and sorting out the SEO.

A special thanks to Kiran for designing the header image and sorting out niggles that cropped up now and then.

Participating in blogathons was a new experience. Hopefully we will get to participate in many more.

And finally, this blog is what it is due to the gang of crazy media analysts who have taken their time off from their busy schedules and have been blogging. So a big thanks to all the “Crazy Bloggers” on 80 Feet Road.

Happy Blogging!

Letter To A Student - By Chithra Ann Joy

1

Each day comes bearing its gifts. Untie the ribbons.

- Ann Ruth Schabader

I know that your exams are approaching fast. Trust me, I know the growing anxiety and pressure level. But, my parents have done their best to guide us to excel in studies.

The principles taught and developed in us by our parents over the last years will not fit into a single book. But, let me share with you briefly few of the key principles. My only intention is to see that you succeed, and succeed well. So, dwell on these principles. Understand them and then apply them in your life.

1. The Foundation: Your foundation for any success, including in studies, is to be close to God. I am saying this because this is the truth.

The bible is very clear, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7).”

Spend time in prayer and reading the bible, everyday. Start your day with 15-30 minutes in the presence of God. Within a strong relationship, will not your heavenly Father bless your mind and studies?

2. Be positive: Do not be afraid. Fear will cripple you but a faith filled positive mindset will lead you to victory. Know God is on your side. He says, “do not be afraid … have no fear of sudden disaster for the Lord will be your confidence (Proverbs 3:24).”

Do not be afraid of your exam. There is no peak conquered without a mountain climbed. Look at your exam as an opportunity. Your mindset will affect your body, your mind & your result.

3. Have a positive view about you, your abilities and your future.

4. Have a plan: If you don’t have a plan to succeed, then you plan to fail. Plan your studies. Make a time table/plan to cover each subject before a week before exam start. Plan to go through your subjects twice. Things will be easy just before the exam and stress free. If you have not begun ahead, start today. “Good planning and hard work leads to prosperity (Proverbs 21:5).”

5. Work Hard: Develop a passion for whatever you do, including studies. Passion is important. Then, work as hard as you can. A common element behind every successful person is hard work. It is not the strongest who wins, but the diligent.

The person who coached Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli during their formative years once remarked that Kambli was definitely the more talented but Sachin was more diligent. You know where both of them are today. Proverbs 13:4 says, “Lazy people want much but get little but those who work hard will prosper and be satisfied.”

5. Focus & Discipline: No one is born with discipline, but discipline is developed. And, developing discipline is hard work. Proverbs 1:7 says, “Fools despise discipline.” Stay focused on your purpose. Your primary purpose right now is studies. Do not get sidetracked (Proverbs 4:27). Stay focused and be disciplined.

6. Have purpose filled friends: You will be what your friends are. Hang around with those kind of people who have a purpose and are going somewhere in life. If your friends are distracting you from your focus, then you need to leave them. No, you are not being selfish but you are being wise. My mom says, “Show me your friends and I will show your future.” If you don’t have good friends who motivate you towards greater heights, then seek them. “He who walks with the wise grows wise (Proverbs 13:20).”

7. Simulate teaching: The best way to learn is to teach it. Once you have gone through a portion, especially a complicated one, imagine yourself explaining the whole process or portion to an imagined audience in your mind. As you will explain the whole concept in your simulated teaching, you will understand it better and it will stay ingrained in your mind. In addition, you have played the role of a communicator as an imaginary teacher. This will improve your ability to communicate on the exam sheets.

9. Be happy: Exam time is a high tension season. You may find yourself worried, sad and even irritated. This is destructive. Being happy or not is primarily a state of mind. You can choose to be happy even if the circumstances are irritable. You may feel frustrated and even angry for silly reason. The pressure of exams does that. It is normal, but don’t let that rule you. The Bible says in Hebrews 12:1, from the Amplified, “Let us strip off everything that weight that entangles us.” You can easily get entangled with weights of frustration, worries, anxiety, laziness, hopelessness.

Proverbs 18:22 says, “A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” If you are sad and irritable this will sap your energy. Instead, choose to be happy irrespective of the circumstances. Fill yourself with happy thoughts. Also, be patient with your family members. Think positive and happy thoughts.

10. Be honest: Be honest while you study. Be honest when you give exam. Using shortcuts and dishonest means is a sure way to shame and destruction. Proverbs 9:17 says, “Stolen water is sweet … but little do they know that the dead are there.”

11. Speak faith: There is power in your words. If you keep on saying that you are weak and a failure that is exactly what you will continue to see in your life. But, if you change your words and speak words of faith then you will gradually begin to believe them and see a change in your circumstances. Proverbs 12:19 says, “People can get many good things by the words they say.” So, speak positive words. Say them aloud.

The Bible says “Let the weak say I am strong. (Joel 3:10b)” What do you do? SAY.

When do you say? When you are weak. What do you say? You’ve got to say what you want to see happening.

However, what ever you say has to be based on the Word of God. And, the Word of God promises to make you the head and not the tail. It promises to make you a blessing and not a curse. It promises to give you wisdom and make you excel in the hands of your work. Yes, speak these blessings upon yourself. Proverbs 18:21 says, “The tongue has power of life and death.” So, speak life! Speak words of faith! See yourself do well.

12. Be confident: You can limit yourselves by what you believe. Know and believe that God wants to bless you. He favors your success. It is His will that you do good in your studies and life. Know this and trust in His goodness. This will help you to be confident. Confidence will release positive strength in you, enabling you to study well. Proverbs 18:14 says “A crushed spirit who can bear. (Proverbs 18:14)” Do not be diffident and unsure. Do not fret. Be confident, and you will be able to fight your battles well.

Remember David? Though he was only a teenager, yet he approaches the giant and warrior Goliath with confidence. His confidence gives him the victory.

There is a boy named Jabez in I Chronicles 4:11. He was a son of sorrow. His mother called him “one who gives pain.” But, Jabez destined to failed changes his destiny because of his faith in God’s goodness. As a result, the story ends by telling us that God made Jabez ‘more honorable than his brothers.’ Your trust in God’s goodness excites Him and keeps you positive. So, be confident as you study and write exam.

13. Relax: Remember the famous lines, ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy?’ God expects us to relax. God himself rested on the 7th day and asked man to take rest. It is godly to take rest, provided you have worked hard J So, each day, after your studies do take time off to do what you enjoy doing the most. However, a word of caution if you relax by watching TV. Be sure that you watch healthy programs. Secondly, fix a time you will be watching the TV for and maintain self-control.

14.Concentrate: Concentration is another thing you need to build. It is normal to loose concentration in the midst of studies or even in the exam hall. But, you have to force yourself to avoid being dragged away with thoughts and concentrate on what you are doing. Focus!

When you are studying, take short breaks. Take short walks during your preparation hours.

Let me quickly write a few more practical things:

Eat healthy: It is crucial that you maintain a good health. So, eat well. Do not eat less and do not eat more. Eating smaller and regular meals is advised. Some children have a tendency to overeat during studies. This will make you lethargic.

Exercise: Exercising is important to keep your body healthy and to keep your mind fresh. Go for a daily 20-40 minute walk or jog. This will freshen you up.

Contents: Be concise in your answers. Length of your answers should correspond to the marks allotted to each question. Fit in as many points, instead of writing a story script. Colour or underline the important matters. Draw the figures using colour pencils.

Read the question: “He who answers before listening (reading the question) that is his folly and shame. (Proverbs 18:13)” Make sure you answer the question.

Time and plan: In the very beginning run through the entire question paper once. Then, mark down the time you have to answer each section according to the marks allotted to it. This will help you to know how much time you have for each question in each section. Use the first 5 minutes for this planning. Then, follow the plan.

If there are any questions you do not know, do not panic. Keep this for the end. First answer the questions you know well. After answering each question, mark it so that at the end you will know the questions that are yet to be answered. Remember, you may end up scrambling for time at the end. Keep 5 minutes at the end to revise the answer sheet. Make sure that you have answered all the questions. Do not leave any unanswered. Attempt smart answer for even those questions which you do not know. And if possible try to answer them in the order given in the Question paper.

The PQR4 method derives its name from the six phases it advocates for studying a chapter in a textbook:

PREVIEW: Survey the chapter to determine the general topics being discussed. Identify the sections to be read as units.

QUESTIONS: Make up questions about each section. Often simply transforming section headings results in adequate questions.

READ: Read each section carefully, trying to answer the questions you have made up about it.

REFLECT: Reflect on the text as you are reading it. Try to understand it, to think of examples and to relate the material to your prior knowledge.

RECITE: After finishing a section, try to recall the information contained in it. Try to answer the questions you made up for the section. If you cannot recall enough, re-read the portions you had trouble remembering.

REVIEW: After you have finished the chapter, go through it mentally, recalling its main points. Again try to answer the questions you made up.

Make notes. Practice - research shows that you become genius because of practice factor not necessarily the talent factor. When you are studying, try to simulate to as close as possible to the exam room environment. It is important for brain to recall with physical cues.

This is how I used to learn and it worked for me.

As I close, I want to show you two things here: firstly, Jesus is saying these words to a bunch of terribly frightened people who are unsure of their future. Secondly, the word peace has the concept of wholeness – wholeness in health, mind, memory, emotions.

Be assured that Jesus Christ is with you during your times of anxiety and fear. Secondly, he is commanding for wholeness and peace to rest upon you and your situation. So, study with confidence. Once you have done your part, He will do His.

You are not a failure but born to win. God is interested in your success. Live it well.

Expect something good to happen to you, today!

Green builidings as a part of green lifestyle!

0

Thanks to a growing awareness of the green building concept in our country. Trust me, this is such a beautiful concept. A green building uses less energy, water and natural resources, creates less waste and is healthier for the people living inside compared to a standard building. Sticking to worldwide standards in constructing buildings, the Tata Housing Development Company Ltd., has built Bangalore’s first Green IT park, Xylem near Whitefield.

Tata Housing’s Xylem, an environment friendly green IT park and the only LEED Gold certified building in Bengaluru, is an engineering marvel, which not only saves energy and cooling costs but also gives more lung space and natural light for employees working there.

Xylem was selected for "Project of the year- Bengaluru" award by Accommodation Times, India's oldest knowledge-based periodical on real estate. Xylem, the first of its kind green building in Bengaluru received the trade honor close on the heels of becoming the only building in the city to receive the LEED Gold certification. The award was conferred to Tata Housing at a gala event at the Nehru Centre Auditorium in Mumbai on February 24, 2009. Green buildings are popping up and for good reason—green design elements not only help save environmental resources, they also boost the bottom line and are good for health and morale. Sophisticated buyers and companies leasing office space are willing to pay a premium for the benefits that green buildings offer.

This IT Park has been designed to tackle the ‘Sick building syndrome’, with its major focus on occupants’ health with an ergonomic design and architecture. The design boosts employee productivity as well as helps reduce the operational cost of the building. Solar panels cover the 35% of the terrace floor space, which acts as a standby power for the common passage areas providing 23kW of power translating to 27,530 KwHr of annual power leading to a saving of Rs 150,463 per annum. Xylem uses rainwater harvesting and 100% of the wastewater is recycled for landscaping use.

Sensory taps are installed at all basins and toilets that further reduce the water consumption. Overall, the building is designed to be approximately 19% more efficient in operational cost as compared to a conventional building. Other benefits include savings of 26.6% on air-conditioning power & cooling costs, 34.1% saving on water supply and 1.6% on common area power.

So, what you say for the concept of green builidings - YES or NO?
