Nano Slated To Launch In March. Bookings From April!

I have read somewhere that if you wish for something with all your heart, then the entire universe conspires to get your wish fulfilled. This was also a dialogue in one of the Bollywood films.

After being booted out of Bengal, courtesy of Mamata Banerjee on behalf of the poor farmers (you can read all about that here), Nano had found a foster home in Gujarat. I guess Ratan Tata’s vision [or should I call it a dream] was stronger than those with mis-placed [vested!] interests.

Tata Motors has announced that its flagship product Nano will be launched at a function in Mumbai on March 23, 2009.

Nano has fired up the imagination of Indians like never before. Tata Motors has said that its Nano website has received 30 million plus hits in a year. People displaying such an interest in a brand that is yet to be launched, would be every marketing team’s dream come true! However, it cannot be ignored that this was helped partly by the Singur issue.

I hope the Nano doesn’t face anymore hiccups.

Thanks to Google, I have found out that it was Paulo Coelho who said: “When you want something, the entire universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

  1. I don't know shit about cars. And if it has little to no safety features then they're right. BUT PEOPLE ARE MISSING THE POINT! This car wasn't made for Americans, this car was made to sell in India, where there are five times as many motorcycles as cars, most families have to turn a two seater motorcycle into a four passenger vehicle. The streets of India are also overcrowded and fucking up emissions. Even though it doesn't meet American standards, ie a seat belt, it is able to meet and exceed international emissions and safety standards.Stop bashing on this car. It's not meant to sell in America. (I suppose we'll have to wait until it parks itself, you bunch of lazy fucks.) The Nano is everything right that is wrong about American cars. And when they throw some seat belts and air conditioning in it I might pick it up after I sell my car...which I might add I can't afford. Oh the delicious Irony!

  2. A safe, affordable, all-weather form of transport for a family...its a gud news for families riding on 2-wheelers..where the father is driving the scooter, his young kid standing in front of him, his wife seated behind him holding a little baby...but if so many Indians swap bicycles and scooters for a car like this... wat abt a disastrous effect on emissions and pollution...!!??

Have you visited the Tata Nano website? If you had done that, then you would have read about the safety features of Nano, which would have cleared all your misconceptions. Here is the link: http://tatanano.inservices.tatamotors.com/tatamotors/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=164&Itemid=176

I believe the car was made for Indians, though it would do well globally. You have a choice. Don't like it then don't buy it. You want a car custom built for your tastes then you should be looking elsewhere.

Who told you that it doesn't have a seat belt? I got the following from the above url. The Nano features crumple zones, intrusion-resistant doors, seat belts, strong seats and anchorages, and the rear tailgate glass bonded to the body.

I guess that should do more than meeting the American safety standards.

So go ahead and book one. Its got air-conditioning and seat-belts. If it retails anywhere near 100,000 INR (1,934.81 USD), it should be a steal.

    @ Shilz

Lets cross that bridge when we come to it. Eh?
